What is IPL?
IPL photo rejuvenation is a noninvasive, nearly painless
procedure that employs the heat from the strong light energy
it emits to erase the signs of aging from the face, neck, chest,
and hands. IPL therapy improves the appearance of sun
aged skin, removes age spots (sun-induced freckles), most
benign brown pigments, and redness caused by broken
capillaries through a process called photorejuvenation for
face and body. The process is ideal for patients with active
lifestyles because the procedure requires no downtime and
has a low risk of side effects.
How many treatments are required?
This depends on the size, location, depth and color of your
lesion. Spider veins on the face and age spots generally do
well with two or three treatments, while darker or deeper
birthmarks may require additional treatments. Port wine
stains, and leg veins usually experience satisfactory results
from IPL treatments, although as many as four to eight
treatment sessions may be required. Each session usually
lasts 15-25 minutes. Treatments should be placed 3 to 8 weeks
apart to allow your body to remove the maximum amount of
pigment cells. You will continue to see a lightening of your
lesion after each treatment as your body disposes of the
pigment cells. |
